Default passenger armrest

Added 3 inches to drivers arm rest so passenger can use it too.

No cost but time, nice to have junk in garage for remanufacture of stuff.

Two quick ties, bottom half of small tackle box, 1 inch foam, 1.5 square foot of naugahyde, 1x3x12inch board, staples.

Very clever & much less expensive than the other alternatives. Is it sturdy?

After reading about the cheap plastic consoles breaking and not needing another place to store stuff(two glove compartments, door slots, under back seat compartment and extra space in spare wheel space) I took off the armrest, it is strong enough to do a handstand on, at least until the plastic gets old. It is mounted with a steel bolt with a .5 inch diameter.

Original armrest is the basis of the construction, didn't want to cut or ruin it in case I ever decide to sell the Fit. I inverted the tough plastic box over the arm(had to stretch it about a inch and a 1x3 filled the gap between armrest and passenger side of the rest, 8 screws holds the board to the box all in place with the two quick ties around the armrest, makes the unit solid.

Honda could have provided armrest for passenger without breaking bank, they already have it for the right hand drive jazz which would be our left hand drive passenger seat.
